Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is ABA therapy?
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy is a scientifically proven approach designed to help children with autism develop essential skills and reduce challenging behaviors. At Ruby’s Nest, we use individualized ABA strategies to focus on areas such as communication, social skills, daily living skills, and behavior reduction to support each child’s growth.
2. What age group do you work with?
We specialize in working with children ages 2 to 8 years old who are diagnosed with autism. Our center is designed to provide a nurturing, safe, and fun environment where your child can thrive.
3. Will you work with my child’s school or other providers?
Yes, collaboration is key to your child's success! Although our therapy is provided in-center, we are more than happy to communicate and collaborate with your child’s school or other service providers to ensure a well-rounded approach to therapy.
4. What will my child’s therapy plan look like?
After an initial assessment and meeting with you, our team will create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your child's specific needs. This plan will target skill-building in areas like communication, socialization, behavior management, and more. We continuously track progress to ensure your child is moving toward their goals.
5. Do you offer full-day therapy programs?
Our clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Therapy sessions are scheduled within those hours, and the duration and frequency of therapy will depend on your child’s needs and goals, which will be discussed during the assessment.
6. How do I get started with services at Ruby’s Nest?
Getting started is easy! Simply contact us to schedule an initial consultation. During this meeting, we’ll discuss your child’s history, challenges, and goals. We will then conduct a comprehensive evaluation at our center and create a personalized treatment plan to help your child succeed.
7. Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept a variety of insurance plans! We work with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and United Health Care. To make sure your child’s coverage applies, we will also assist with benefits verification and ensure that your plan covers ABA therapy.
8. What should I bring to the first session?
For the first session, please bring socks, a water bottle, and maybe a snack for your child. We recommend also bringing any relevant documentation (like diagnosis paperwork or IEPs, if applicable), your insurance information, and any questions you may have for our team. We want to make sure we have everything needed to understand your child’s unique needs.
9. How do you measure my child’s progress?
We measure progress using ongoing assessments and data collection during therapy. We track both skill acquisition and the reduction of maladaptive behaviors, providing you with regular updates on your child’s development and areas for improvement.
10. Can I stay with my child during therapy?
Parents drop off their child during therapy sessions. While most therapy sessions are conducted one-on-one with the therapist, we encourage parent training and involvement outside of the session to help reinforce the skills your child is learning.
11. What happens if my child is struggling with a behavior or skill?
If your child is struggling with a specific behavior or skill, our BCBA will analyze the situation and adjust the therapy plan as needed. We work together with you to find effective solutions and ensure your child’s success in their therapy goals.
12. How long will my child need therapy?
The duration of therapy depends on your child’s specific needs and goals. ABA therapy is typically a long-term commitment, with progress being evaluated regularly to ensure therapy continues to meet your child’s evolving needs. Our goal is to provide the support your child needs to reach their fullest potential.
