Our Facility

Our clinic is located in Elgin, Illinois, where we provide a warm and welcoming space for children and families. At Ruby’s Nest, we’ve designed our clinic to mimic a classroom environment, fostering a natural and dynamic learning experience for your child. Our facility includes various areas dedicated to different skills and activities to ensure well-rounded growth:

  • Mock Classroom: This space is designed to resemble a traditional classroom, where children can engage in structured learning activities and lessons that mimic what they would experience in school.

  • Independent Play Area: A space where children can practice autonomy and self-directed play, allowing them to develop critical social and emotional skills.

  • Eating Area: A designated area for meals and snack times, promoting the development of daily living skills like table manners and self-feeding.

  • Sensory Room: This room is filled with calming activities and tools designed to help children regulate sensory input, promoting self-soothing and focus.

  • Arts and Crafts Area: A creative space where children can engage in hands-on activities that enhance fine motor skills, creativity, and self-expression.

  • Imaginary Play Area: Designed to encourage social skills and communication, this area allows children to engage in role-playing activities that foster creativity and interaction.

  • Movement Room: Equipped with a soccer net, trampoline, ball pit, and space for running, the movement room promotes physical development and provides an outlet for energy through fun physical activities.

Each area is tailored to support different aspects of development, ensuring that children have the opportunity to grow in both structured and natural play settings.

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change, or are affected by the environment, as well as how learning takes place. The term behavior refers to skills and actions needed to talk, play, and live. While these principles impact everyone each day, they can be applied systematically through interventions to help individuals learn and apply new skills in their daily lives.

ABA requires the implementation of established principles of learning, behavioral strategies, and environmental modifications to improve and teach new behaviors. In practice, implementation must be systematic so teachers can identify how behavior can be changed and understand how learning occurred.

The ultimate goal of ABA is to establish and enhance socially important behaviors. Such behaviors can include social, communication, and daily living skills; essentially, any skill that will enhance the independence and/or quality of life for the individual.

The Process at Ruby's Nest: Tailored ABA Therapy for Your Child’s Growth

At Ruby's Nest, we begin by working closely with parents and guardians to understand your child's unique needs and goals. Our experienced Chicago-based Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) will conduct a thorough developmental evaluation at our center, ensuring that we create the most effective therapy plan for your child. The evaluation starts with an in-depth meeting with you, the guardian, to gather important information about your child's history, specific concerns, and aspirations for their growth.

We use evidence-based assessments like the VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, and PEAK to accurately gauge your child’s current abilities and developmental needs. Based on these assessments, the BCBA will create a personalized treatment plan that targets your child’s skill deficits across key developmental areas. This individualized approach ensures therapy is focused, effective, and aligned with your child’s goals, providing them with the best possible opportunity to grow, thrive, and succeed.

Our goal is to partner with you throughout the process to help your child achieve their fullest potential in a supportive, nurturing center environment.
